Through the sweetest touch of a child,
In the softness of a friend's embrace,
Amidst your smile and forgiving heart,
I see the gentleness of Christ.
When I turn from you in bitterness,
As my words fly out to hurt,
If I deny our Lord in rebellion,
I need the gentleness of Christ.
When I care for the hurting,
When I quietly accept your correction,
As I humbly overcome your rejection,
I show the gentleness of Christ.
Blessed are the humble. Blessed are the merciful.
Blessed are the peaceful. Blessed are the gentle.
Lord, help us learn this wisdom from above.
